Khowai/ Kalyanpur, Dec 02: The four-day long vibrant ‘Vidya Fest’ organized by the Khowai district administration for celebrating the unique talents of students in Vidyajyoti schools has come to an end on Monday.
The festival saw the participation of around 2000 students from 12 Vidyajyoti Schools in 29 events across different categories. It is for the first time that any district has organised such an event of grand scale to give a platform for students to express their talents in arts, literary and visual arts in 3 different locations- Khowai, Kalyanpur and Teliamura.
Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities and discussed ways to use the same for quenching creative quest as well as to earn a dignified living. He encouraged every child to take up at least one co-curricular activity seriously.
Chief Whip of Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Roy outlined the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in development of the education sector and the way the state government is taking it forward through multiple initiatives including Vidyajyoti scheme.
Khowai District Magistrate Chandni Chandran welcomed all dignitaries to the event and explained the thought process behind Vidya Fest which is to provide a platform for students to express themselves and gain confidence through participation and winning.
Since Vidyajyoti schools have cultural instructors, it's also a test to see how well that addition has contributed to the cultural as well as overall development of the students.
Director, Secondary Education- NC Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Khowai- Ramesh Chandra Yadav, DFO Akshay Borde and DEO Dinesh Debbarma were also present.
The Governor distributed prizes among all winners including champion schools. With 73 points, Khowai Government English Medium Higher Secondary School came as the top 1 champion school.
Teliamura HS school came second and Teliamura English Medium Higher secondary school earned 3rd place.
As a notable achievement, the new Vidyajyoti School in Rural area, Ghilatali HS School secured 4th position pushing behind many urban schools to subsequent places. The programme was enriched by a cultural presentation by teachers and students of Vidyajyoti schools. President of the programme Shri Rupak Sarkar chairman Teliamura municipal council delivered vote of thanks.
